Re modelling family stones into rings you love

Inheriting Family Jewellery and have it Remodelling.

These days there is a spotlight on fast fashion and throwaway culture, and a rise in reusing, recycling and mindful purchasing, interest in reworking old pieces of jewellery has been reignited.

Inheriting jewellery from family, or loved ones is an emotional moment in life. It’s a chance to continue a legacy as jewellery holds so much sentiment as it may have been passed down through generations.

Sometimes that jewellery isn’t always wearable; maybe the metal has worn thin, or even broken.

It may not be your style and maybe you realise you will never really love, or wear it as it is. It will just sit in a drawer, or a safe, unworn and unloved. This is such a shame when the gemstones are so beautiful.

Unworn pieces should be admired in the way they were intended.

Occasionally we outgrow a piece of jewellery, no longer loving its style, or perhaps the story it once held.

Recycle Your Gemstones

I can recycle your gemstones in a fresh new design, that better reflects your style.

Over the years in my shop, in the Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells people come to me with precious family stones of all sizes, hoping to give them a new lease of life.

Commission A New Ring

Commission me to make a new ring in a design that someone special will wear and cherish forever. I am very lucky to work with a very talented Goldsmith that helps me make many of my commissions. We work so well together; we can take on anything with our combined strengths.

Large Classic Statement Gemstone Ring

This beautiful Aquamarine belonged to the mother of my customer, but in a type of ring that was not right for her. She knew exactly the style of ring she wanted, which incorporated the Diamonds from another ring. The resulting ring, a large dramatic dress ring, shows off this wonderful gemstone.

Bold Modern Gemstone Ring

This ring was remodelled using an inherited large Amethyst, originally set in a simple but old fashioned ring. It was for the customer's daughter as a gift,  she wanted a bold modern ring to be worn every day. it was made by recycling the gold from a couple of rings and wanted a band that was a little bit textured and pitted. Lots of small Diamonds from the old rings, were set into the band either side of the centre stone.

Glamorous Sparking Dress Ring

The brief was to create a dress ring with lots of 'bling', incorporating this oval Aquamarine and the diamonds from an old broken eternity ring that no longer fitted her.

Recycled Jewellery
The shank of the ring was made from a gold casting of my, 'Branch Ring'. This was  customised so the Aquamarine could be set into it, with claws. The diamonds from the eternity ring were set all over the gold band.

This beautiful large old opal, was given to an old secondary school friend, by her mother in law. It was set in an old gold pin brooch, that was never worn. She wanted me to create a big 'knuckle duster', combining silver and the gold from the brooch. Together we decided it would be nice to have two diamonds each side of the opal, using an old pair of studs that she never wore. The result is very dramatic; sadly her mother in law has passed away now, but not before seeing her new much loved ring.

Wide Wire Work Multi Stone Ring

This customer came with several old family rings, with a clear idea of the style of ring she wanted me to design. She wanted a large open wire work ring, with the smaller diamonds, 'channel set' into the ring. The difficulty with this design was to get the wires and the stones, in the best balanced pattern. The ring looks really good when its worn, as there are lovely spaces where the finger can be seen.

Sentimental Ring incorporating late Mothers Engagement Ring

This ring was one of the most challenging re-modelling designs I have done. She wanted to use a group of stones from sentimental old jewellery and also wanted me to add some new stones. During the process and due to the sad loss of her mother, she wanted me to incorporate her mothers engagement ring. I had never designed a ring with a complete ring included into it, but we managed and the result was very pleasing.

Everyday Nature Inspired Mixed Metal Ring

This customer had an old fashioned three stone Sapphire Diamond ring and she wanted to incorporate them in a mixed metal ring. She wanted it to have a nature inspired theme incorporating oak leaves.

Five Band Heart Shaped Diamond Engagement Ring re- make

This lady had a traditional engagement ring, which she was no longer enjoying wearing. She really liked my wide five band ring and wanted me to incorporate the diamond heart and the other diamonds across it. She wanted the bands joined together normally, then are also moveable. The result was impressive on her finger.

The lady had been gifted, three Sapphires and wanted a stacking ring, incorporating two diamonds, from an old pair of studs. The gold was used to make the setting around the largest Sapphire and the studs were left in the gold setting to match. She was delighted with the resulting ring and the stacking rings are lovely, as you have many ways you can wear them.

Multiple Diamond Bling Wedding Band

The bride to be and her future husband, had a large number of family diamond rings between them. She came to me with a strong idea of the ring she wanted, as she had seen a ring she really liked online. She wanted me to design my version of this style of multi-stone ring. The result was a very dramatic one, a large ring full of bling!

Seven Stone Stacking Engagement Ring

My last engagement ring commission, was made using recycled gold and blue Cabouchon Sapphire from her fathers ring. It incorporated two diamonds she also had. I needed to source four green and blue Sapphires to complete it. The final ring had three 9 ct. white gold bands, two bands had three faceted stones on them and the central band just had the Cabouchon Sapphire as its centrepiece.

Simple Classic Solitaire Engagement Ring

This ring was a remake from a traditional tapered, claw set, solitaire engagement ring, that she wanted to modernise. The result was this crisp classic 'rub over' set diamond where the diamond can be shown off in a very safe and simple smart setting.

Catherine's 'Five Band Ring' Design with three diamond set moveable bars.

I really enjoyed recycling these diamonds the lady had been left from a 16 diamond cross by her much loved late mother. The cross was not a symbol she would ever wear and instead she wanted a special ring . Together we decided this design would be perfect, as it used 15 of the stones, set into three moveable bars. The central one, in 18ct gold using the gold from the cross pendant. She now has a ring that she loves to wear, one that she can treasure and pass on to her daughter one day.
